I feel called to Paganism and Witchcraft, but I don't know where to start. What do you recommend?

Blessings to you on your journey of exploration and discovery. Here are some suggestions to help you further your spiritual path.

Study and research. Immerse yourself in the rich literature on Paganism and Witchcraft. Read books written by renowned authors, such as Starhawk, John Beckett, Ivo Dominguez Jr., Ronald Hutton, Jason Mankey, Christopher Penczak, and Laura Tempest Zakroff. We also recommend books by our member authors Martha Kirby Capo, Heather Greene, Opal Luna, Nathan Hall, and Gypsey Teague.

Explore Paganism’s different traditions, practices, and belief systems to gain a broader perspective.

Connect with the community. Seek out local Pagan and Witchcraft communities or online forums where you can connect with like-minded individuals. Engaging in discussions, attending gatherings, workshops, and events can provide valuable insights, networking opportunities, and access to experienced practitioners who can guide you further.

Find a mentor or teacher. Consider seeking guidance from an experienced practitioner who can serve as a mentor or teacher. They can offer personalized instruction, answer your questions, and provide practical advice based. Look for individuals who align with your interests, traditions, or magical practices.

Experiment with ritual and spellwork. Begin incorporating rituals and spells into your practice. Start with simple rituals for honoring the elements, connecting with deities or spirits, or celebrating seasonal festivals. Explore spellcasting using different magickal tools, such as herbs, crystals, candles, or divination techniques. Remember always to approach spellwork with ethical considerations and a respectful mindset.

How do I join your coven?

Everglades Moon Local Council (EMLC) is not a coven; we are an affiliation of covens and solitary members of the Covenant of the Goddess (CoG) who live in Florida.

Some of our member covens teach and may be open to new students. If you would like to know more, please submit your inquiry via our contact page. Tell us about yourself, your studies and interests in Paganism and Witchcraft, what you’re seeking, your age, your location, and anything else you think we should know.

I am a long-time solitary practitioner or a coven interested in learning about CoG and possibly joining EMLC. How do we proceed?

Thank you for being interested in EMLC. We encourage you to read about the path to membership. It’s a five-step process that begins with a meeting. Getting to know each other and seeing if we’re a good fit is important.

Opportunities to connect include our meetings, held in our members’ homes across Florida and online, and public events and festivals such as drum circles, Pagan Pride Days, and Florida Pagan Gathering. You could also invite EMLC members to visit your Sabbat or Esbat celebration.

To connect with us, submit your inquiry via our contact page. Be sure to tell us about yourself or your coven.

How do I get ministerial credentials from CoG?

Minister and Elder Credentials are only available to CoG members. If you are a member, please get in touch with the Membership Officer. If you are not a member, please see CoG’s information on joining and our membership path.
