Turning the Tide returns February 2-4, 2024

Everglades Moon Local Council is excited to present Turning the Tide 17: Crafting the Magick.

Our festival is back and in-person. Join us February 2-4 for a weekend of rituals, workshops, and community-building.

What is Turning the Tide?

Turning the Tide is an annual Pagan festival brought to you by the Everglades Moon Local Council of the Covenant of the Goddess.
Held in January, Turning the Tide is an intimate gathering of Wiccans and Witches in South Florida. It is a camping weekend filled with rituals, workshops, food, and friendship. From its start in 1997, Turning the Tide has grown into one of the more popular festivals in South Florida.
Activities in past years have included a community pot luck dinner, singing carols, a wreath/centerpiece competition, midnight offerings, and the Iron Witch competition, a timed spell crafting battle built around a specific secret ingredient. It is always exciting to see how each Witch designs their spell and learn about the different techniques and approaches that magickal workers will use. No two people tackle the Iron Witch the same way.
Members of EMLC and the local Pagan community present a variety of workshops. Previous years have included workshops on Norse cosmology, making honey pots, working with land spirits, beekeeping, singing, shapeshifting, astrology, and various forms of divination.

The weekend begins and ends, and is punctuated by, ritual. Over the years, various groups have volunteered to lead the rituals. This allows festival-goers to experience a variety of ritual approaches offered by different traditions.
And, of course, there’s music and feasting! Nothing seems to lift the spirits like the joyful noise of friends and family coming together in the spirit of community.
Saturday night usually begins with Yule caroling before the community feast. Everyone contributes a pot-luck item to it, and no one leaves hungry. After the meal and main ritual, drumming provides the pulse of the weekend, connecting us all with the fires being born during the season.

Our Culture and Policies

Turning the Tide is a sacred space for cultivating a spiritual community. To foster a welcoming and safe atmosphere for everyone, we have established the following guidelines.

  • Participants must respect the camp rules established by Miami Dade Parks Rules and Regulations and event management.
  • Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
  • No nudity is permitted.
  • Video recording and photography without consent is prohibited.
  • EMLC reserves the right to deny or revoke admission to Turning the Tide without refund for dangerous or disruptive behavior or non-compliance with gathering policies.

Event Donation

Reserve your spot for Turning the Tide with a $65.00 per person donation.

We offer a limited amount of Work Exchange Positions. If you are interested in Work Exchange, email turningthetidefestival@gmail.com.

Your Event Donation includes:

  • Cabin, tent, or RV space
  • Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday
  • All workshops
  • All rituals
  • Potluck dinner on Saturday
  • And any other festivities throughout the weekend.
